World Aid Network operates a strict 100% donation policy. When you give Zakat through us, the full amount — every single penny — goes directly to the poor and the sick. Our administrative costs are covered entirely by Gift Aid receipts and specific administrative donations from supporters who understand the importance of operational funding.

This is not a marketing promise. It is a written policy, verified by our Islamic scholars and published openly for accountability. Zakat funds are never mixed with general funds.

Medically Verified
"To date I have performed over 5,000 cataract surgeries, thousands of eyelid surgeries and over 500 eye muscle surgeries across NHS and private practice. Working with partner hospitals in Karachi and Islamabad, I have seen first-hand how access to skilled ophthalmic care transforms lives in communities where sight loss is still entirely preventable."

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Zakat questions

Scholar-reviewed answers to the questions Muslims ask most about Zakat.

What is Zakat?
Zakat is the third pillar of Islam — an obligatory annual charity of 2.5% of your total qualifying wealth. It is due on Muslims who hold net wealth above the Nisab threshold for one full lunar year. Zakat purifies wealth and fulfils the rights of the poor.
How much Zakat do I pay?
Zakat is 2.5% of your total net zakatable wealth held above the Nisab threshold for one lunar year (the Hawl). For every £1,000 of qualifying wealth, you owe £25 in Zakat.
What is the Nisab threshold in 2026?
The silver Nisab is approximately £499 GBP (612.36 grams of silver). The gold Nisab is approximately £7,394 GBP (87.48 grams of gold). Most scholars recommend using the silver Nisab. Values change daily with metal prices — use the full calculator for today's figure.
Who receives Zakat?
Zakat must be given to one of eight categories prescribed in the Quran (Surah At-Tawbah 9:60): the poor, the destitute, Zakat administrators, those whose hearts are to be reconciled, those in bondage, the debt-ridden, in the cause of Allah, and the stranded traveller. World Aid Network distributes to the poor and destitute.
What is the 100% Donation Policy?
Every single penny of your Zakat donation reaches those in need. World Aid Network's administrative costs are covered entirely by Gift Aid and specific administrative donations — nothing is deducted from Zakat funds.
Is cataract eye surgery Zakat-eligible?
Yes. Funding medical treatment for those who are poor and cannot afford care is a valid and widely accepted use of Zakat, endorsed by major Islamic scholars. Our cataract programme restores sight to the poor — a clear and direct benefit to those in critical need.
